The River is Rising!

This has been a typical NC January with every kind of weather, from snow to short-sleeved Spring like days. However, this last rain we had on January 24th, caused the Mighty Yadkin River to spill over into my backyard, making for a great photo opportunity. Part of the Bermuda Run Golf Course had it's own river. There were even currents on the fairway and cart paths completely immersed. Many of my neighbor's fire pits, lawn furniture and other yard accessories have been swallowed by the water. It has been said that this amount of flooding has not been seen for about 10 years.
I think the drought we had a couple of summers ago is long behind us! But, we are merely observing the weather...our prayers are with the families and communities that are truly affected by the flooding.
("This weather report was brought to you by Kerri Lard, Anne Grant Photography's very own 'meteorologist'.)"

What Will The New Year Bring To You?

"What the New Year brings to you depends a great deal on what you bring to the New Year".

-Vern McLellan, author and coach

At Anne Grant Photography we have been so blessed in 2009 and are excited to see what we are able to bring to 2010.

We are thankful to have had such a wonderful year at Anne Grant Photography. Success can be measured in many ways, so no matter what the economy does, we consider we have succeeded when we are busy with community involvement.

One of the organizations that we hold dear to our hearts is the Piedmont Down Syndrome Group (PDSSN.) We were honored to donate our time to create portraits at the Buddy Walk, an annual fundraiser at Tanglewood Park supporting the PDSSN. Click on this link to see the video of all the people that showed up to walk in the rain. Pay close attention and you may see our beautiful studio greeter, Cooper, walking with Denise, her husband Ben, and friend Brett. (They are wearing brown AG Photo shirts). Anne and Nolan stayed behind to take more portraits of families.

If you have read our blog, you have heard about our friends at the monthly No Limits Dance for teens & adults with special needs. They hold a formal dance once a year and we have blast photographing the couples in their finest prom clothing.

Another organization that we love to be associated with is Sally's Angels. It was founded by Sally's mom, Anna Rice. Since there were many "angels" who helped them in their time of need they developed an organization that strives to help children and families with special needs. We have had the pleasure to photograph Miss Sally since she was a baby. At their annual fundraising event (this year a "coffee" instead of a "tea") we were thrilled when they surprised us with an award for our support of Sally's Angels.

Also close to our hearts is supporting the men and women that fight for our safety and freedom every day. In appreciation to our Police Officers, Fire Fighters, and Military, in 2010 we will continue to offer a FREE 11x14 framed portrait in your uniform (a $329 value). We have had the privilege of photographing several uniform sessions this year and we look forward to meeting more of these heroes.

Speaking of heroes, our recent Facebook Party was a big hit for all who attended. The party was a benefit to raise funds for "The Flight of Honor" which pays for our World War II Veterans to fly to Washington DC and see the Memorial Wall dedicated to our fallen heroes.

Another important organization to us is the Lewisville Clemmons Chamber of Commerce. A strong Chamber of Commerce is an asset to local businesses and we are proud to be charter members. Nolan's dedication to his position as Vice President resulted in being voted Member of the Year!

Already this new year, we began making plans for our involvement with the "Walk to Defeat ALS" in April. Later in the day at our Rotary meeting, the committees are being formed for the Easter Festival to benefit Make A Wish. (There also are rumors of another Facebook Party, so we'll keep you in the loop).

We are glad to have wonderful clients that we consider our friends. If you personally have any organizations that mean a lot to you, we will always be glad to consider donations for silent auctions or at times, we are often available to photograph an charitable event.

None of this is to boast about Anne Grant Photography because we know that only the grace of God provides the overflow of those blessings and we hope this means we CAN bring a great deal to 2010!
